Naeem Ashraf Raja is Director Biodiversity Programme in Ministry of Climate Change. He has been intimately involved in community based conservation since mid 90s. He has worked in Palas Valley of Kohistan to conserve the habitat of extremely threatened Western Tragopan and endemic flora and fauna of western Himalayas by mobilizing local communities. He has also worked in pioneering conservation programme in Toba Kakar Range in Balochistan to conserve the wild goats and sheep namely Sulaiman Markhor and Afghan Urial along with associated biodiversity by actively involving local tribal communities. He has also worked in Punjab Forest Department implementing social forestry programmes in various districts of Punjab.
